What are our practice hours?

We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday mornings 8:30am to 12pm. We are closed on Sundays and public holidays. We also close for the period Christmas to new year.

Do you do kids eye tests?

Yes -we look after all aspects of children’s vision including glasses, contact lenses, sport glasses, myopia control. Our standard eye tests are bulk billed until 18 years of age.

We are not a bulk billing practice, our standard eye exams incur a gap payment of $39, or $29 for pensioners. More in depth testing or digital images may be required and these will cost extra, your optometrist will discuss these options during your test.

Do we do the free government glasses?

Yes we do! We have the vision Australia program for glasses available to full centrelink benefit patients. Your eye test will cost $29 and glasses can be provided through vision Australia subject to eligibility. You will need to provide an Income Statement from Centrelink to accompany your application.

Can I wear contact lenses?

Most likely- Yes! Contact lenses are available in daily, fortnightly, monthly disposable options and we also prescribe Rigid and Ortho K lenses. Contact lenses are available as single vision, multifocal or monovision and the vast majority of people would be suited to contact lens wear.

How much will my glasses cost?

We provide glasses through the Vision Australia program for centrelink benefit recipients, and we also have low cost budget packages available from $200. Outside of these options, Our frames start from $90 and our lenses start from $140.

How long will my eye test take?

A standard eye test is usually around 45 minutes however sometimes longer appointments are required for diabetic patients or contact lens fittings. Allow 1 hour in general.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required for an appointment with us.

What to expect during my eyetest and what to bring

Please bring along any glasses or contact lenses you are currently wearing, An up to date list of your medications, any relevant information from your GP or Ophthalmologist, your medicare card and private health fund card. Your optometrist will talk to you about your lifestyle, your visual requirements such as work or hobbies and treatment options including glasses, contact lenses, prescription or plano sunglasses and any requirements for referral to a specialist ophthalmologist if needed. We provide a full and comprehensive eye examination encompassing vision check, eye health check and also have visual fields, retinal photography, OCT scanning, Topography, and dry eye management available.

Do you do CASA (aviation) testing

Katy Casey, is our certified CASA optometry practitioner. Your appointment for CASA will take 2 hours and the cost of these examinations is $300. Please bring along your CASA paperwork, your current glasses, list of medications, drivers licence.

Do we do safety glasses?

We have a great range of safety glasses available through PSG. We have both metal and plastic frames in our range, and both single vision and multifocal lens option available in clear, transition or sunglass options. We can order these privately or through your employer with your approved contract application.

Do we look after dry eyes?

We are equipped with the latest technology in tear film analysis and have several optometrists certified in therapeutics so we can prescribe any necessary treatments including steroids/antibiotics/dry eye drops and gels.

We have topography available for mapping and prescribing Ortho K lenses for myopia control. These are custom contact lenses worn overnight to correct vision therefore no glasses or contacts need to be worn during the day. We also have Myopia control spectacle lenses available through our lens supplier Zeiss.

Can I have my prescription in sunglasses, diving masks, or swimming goggles?

Yes, Yes and Yes! We have a fantastic range of options in sunglass frames and lenses in both polarised and non polarised varieties, in a wide range of colours. We also stock Maui Jim sunglasses and can special order through them in your prescription. Swimming goggles and diving masks are also available in prescription or non prescription.

Access to our practices

Gosford, Erina and Killarney Vale all have excellent access for all of our patients, including patients using walking or mobility aides and wheelchairs.

RMS / Disability parking applications

We are able to process your driving /parking applications during your consultations. Please let the staff know if required when you make your appointment as additional testing may be needed for your application. Please also bring your forms in on the day of your test.

Glasses repairs, cleaning and adjustments

Our staff are qualified to assist with the care of your glasses, for the life of your glasses! We offer a full range of glasses repairs including new parts, nosepad replacement, screw replacement, lens replacement and can also tighten and adjust your glasses for the perfect fit. We can also give your glasses a thorough clean and service, at no charge. No appointment is needed for these services.

Emergency appointments

Our practices have emergency appointments available for sudden loss or changes to vision or other new symptoms. These may include- flashes or floaters, black spots or loss of peripheral vision, eye pain, discharge from eyes, or migraine symptoms. We encourage you to contact us immediately if you have new symptoms and our staff will triage for appointment requirements.
